In a game featuring eight overs per side, Rohit Sharma shone as India defeated Australia by six wickets to tie the three-match T20 international series. After a damp outfield caused the start to be delayed by two and a half hours, India won the toss and decided to put Australia in to bat. As Australia made 5-90, wicketkeeper Matthew Wade (43 not out off 20 balls) and skipper Aaron Finch (31 off 15) scored freely. KL Rahul was bowled by the leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who finished with spans of 3-16 from two overs, to break a 39-run opening partnership with Rohit. After that, Zampa bowled Virat Kohli and lbw-trapped Suryakumar Yadav to give Australia some hope.
On his route to a score of 46 not out off 20 balls, Rohit blasted two consecutive boundaries off Sean Abbott in the following over. Hardik Pandya was caught by Pat Cummins, but India only needed nine runs to win off the last over thanks to their captain's superb late-cut boundary off Cummins with the final ball of the seventh over. Dinesh Karthik whipped the crowd into a frenzy with a slog scoop off Daniel Sams' opening delivery and completed the victory with four balls remaining by smashing another boundary. With India's victory, the series will be decided on Sunday in Hyderabad. With a daring scoop over the wicketkeeper's head in the first over and a straight six off Yuzvendra Chahal in the third, Finch scored 24 of his team's first 31 runs. Axar Patel bowled Glenn Maxwell off his first delivery, and Cameron Green was out for five runs. Before returning Jasprit Bumrah uprooted Finch's leg, the spinner also dismissed Tim David. With three sixes off Harshal Patel in the penultimate over, Wade added three more boundaries to his innings after his game-winning unbeaten 45 in the first game of the series.

With a victory over Australia in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad, India continued to improve their stellar recent performance in run chases in T20Is. Tim David (54) and Cameron Green both scored stunning half century as India needed to score 187 to win. With one ball remaining, India finished the run chase, making them 13 successful run chases in the format in 14 attempts since 2021. India won all three games in the series, giving them a total of 21 T20I victories this year, the highest ever by a side in men's T20Is. Up until this point, Pakistan had held the record with 20 victories in T20Is played in 2021. Thailand's women's team, which concluded the year with 21 victories and 4 losses, was matched by India. As the visitors appeared poised for a large score, Green gave Australia a strong start by achieving his half-century in just 19 balls, a record against India. Australia lost two key wickets in quick succession, Steve Smith (9) and Glenn Maxwell (6). David's decisive blow enabled the guests to score a respectable total of 186/7. India's odds were lowered to 30/2, making their run chase difficult. The task became more difficult with Suryakumar Yadav's dismissal in the 14th over, but their century partnership had gotten India back on track. Virat Kohli hit a six off the opening delivery, bringing the score to five runs needed off five balls. Kohli finished with 63 off 48 balls and needed 11 runs off Daniel Sams' last over to win. However, Kohli was struck out on the following ball, reducing the equation to four runs needed from two balls. As a result of Hardik Pandya's bat sending an edge for four through the third baseman, India tied the record and won the series.
