Ahead of the IPL 2025 Auction, Rohit Sharma's future with the Mumbai Indians has been the subject of several inquiries.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 Auction, many people are wondering what will happen to Rohit Sharma. According to a number of media sources, the experienced Indian batsman may be able to leave the Mumbai Indians and go up for auction. Nonetheless, MI is expected to keep Rohit and three other elite cricket players, according an Indian Express article. According to the article, MI is seeking to keep Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya in addition to Rohit. The team is anticipated to exercise the Right To Match (RTM) on Tim David and attempt to purchase Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan in the mega auction, however it is still unclear if they would maintain an uncapped cricket player.
The Mumbai Indians (MI), five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners, announced on Wednesday that Paras Mhambrey had been hired as their bowling coach.
MI announced in a statement that Mhambrey, who coached bowling for India from November 2021 till their victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in June, will join head coach Mahela Jayawardene's coaching staff with current bowling coach Lasith Malinga.
Mhambrey will be joining MI for the second time; he was a member of the support staff for their 2013 IPL victory, their 2011 and 2013 Champions League T20 championships, their 2010 runner-up finish, and two more IPL playoff appearances.
Mhambrey, who was identified in 1990 by the BCA Mafatlal Bowling program under the legendary English fast bowler Frank Tyson, represented India in three ODIs and two Test matches between 1996 and 1998. He did, however, have a distinguished domestic cricket career with Mumbai, where he helped the team win the Ranji Trophy five times.
In addition, he has a Level 3 coaching diploma from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Prior to joining the national team, he coached Bengal, Maharashtra, Baroda, and Vidarbha (2016–17) in domestic cricket. He first served as coach of the India A and U19 teams before establishing himself as a reliable member of the coaching staff under Rahul Dravid.
Additionally, Mhambrey led the India U19 squad to second place at the 2020 U19 World Cup in South Africa. Through careful analysis, man-management abilities, and sound tactical planning, he gained considerable praise for his tenure with the senior Indian squad, during which time India became a formidable bowling lineup.
Senior bowler Mohammed Shami gave him extra credit for his efforts and encouragement during the 2023 ODI World Cup on home soil by putting the ball on his head when taking a five-fer against Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
