World Cup 2023 Schedule
The first game of the Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played on October 5 in Ahmedabad between the defending champions England and the runners-up from the previous year, New Zealand. On October 14, the tense India vs. Pakistan game will also take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The two semifinal games will be played on November 15 and 16 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Wankhede venue in Mumbai, respectively. The final will also be played on November 19 at the biggest cricket venue in the globe.
The World Cup, the premier event for ODI cricket, will be held in India for the fourth time and for the first time since Team India's historic victory there in 2011. All 48 games will be played at ten different locations. Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamsala, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad will all host India's matches. Surprisingly, the only historic international site where India do not have a league match booked is the renowned Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, which has a capacity of 55,000 and has held 5 Tests, 7 ODIs, and 3 T20Is. There will be a reserve day for both semis.
The remaining two teams were chosen through the World Cup Qualifiers. Eight of the ten teams have previously qualified for cricket's major event. In a round robin style, each team plays the other nine teams, with the top four teams moving on to the semifinals. Additionally, the warm-up games will be played in Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram from September 29 to October 3.

On October 8 at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, Rohit Sharma and company will open their campaign against an out-of-control Australian team. India will be up against heavy competition from New Zealand in Dharamsala and England in Lucknow, the only two teams to have defeated them at the 2019 World Cup, with the exception of Pakistan and Australia. India lost their single league encounter against England four years ago at Edgbaston, and then the BlackCaps eliminated them with an 18-run victory in the semifinal at Manchester in a rain-shortened game that lasted a full day.
The revised announcement is made two weeks after the first release of the dates. The World Cup schedule was scheduled to be revealed on the sidelines of the World Test Championship final, which was followed by the enthralling Test match between India and Australia at The Oval. It was asserted that the reason for the postponement was Pakistan's wish to reschedule two of their games—against Australia in Bengaluru on October 20 and Afghanistan in Chennai three days later. According to the schedule, the BCCI rejected their request.
